As one of the major cities that make up California's high-tech area known as Silicon Valley, Sunnyvale is the former location of Atari headquarters, and the location of a fictional computer game company in the 1983 film WarGames. Many technology companies are headquartered in Sunnyvale such as Yahoo!, LinkedIn, and Apple, plus aerospace and defense icons Lockheed Martin and NASA  have their presence in Sunnyvale.

Dining, Shopping & Entertainment

Historic Murphy Avenue in downtown Sunnyvale has many boutiques, restaurants and plays hosts to seasonal events such as the jazz festival, art, and wine festival and a weekly Saturday farmer’s market. It is also host to numerous diverse restaurants like Dishdash, Meyhouse and Kabul Afghan Cuisine. For those who enjoy comedy shows, historic Rooster T Feathers is a popular spot as they often feature nationally acclaimed comedians.

Things to Do

For recreation enthusiasts, there is the Sunnyvale Tennis Center which has tennis and pickleball courts, lessons and camps. The 24 acre Las Palmas Park includes two playgrounds, a large pond with fountains, a dog park and BBQs. Baylands Park provides over 70 acres of developed parkland offering active recreation, pathways and picnic areas for families and large groups. The Sunnyvale Community Theatre hosts many plays, concerts and other public performances.

Several districts serve the city of Sunnyvale: Sunnyvale School District for kindergarten through 8th grade and Fremont Union High School District for high school.
